Scripture for the week
Verse: “Ah, Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You.” Jeremiah 32:17 NKJV
Reflection: Jeremiah spoke these words in a moment when everything around him was collapsing. He wasn’t standing in triumph; he was standing in tension. His nation was under siege. His people were afraid. His own future was uncertain. Nothing looked hopeful. Nothing looked possible.
And yet, in the middle of the chaos,
in the middle of the unanswered questions,
in the middle of the heaviness, Jeremiah lifted his voice and declared what he knew, not what he saw.
He remembered that God is not defined by circumstances. He remembered that God’s power does not shrink in dark seasons.
He remembered that the God who created the heavens and the earth is not overwhelmed by human impossibility.
And this is where the verse reaches into our own lives. Sometimes the mountain before us scares us. Sometimes the situation we face makes our hearts almost stop.
Sometimes the enemy magnifies the problem so loudly that we forget the power of our God. We forget how He has shown up before. We forget the miracles He has already done. We forget the battles He has already won for us. Fear makes the mountain look bigger. But faith makes God look greater.
I know it’s not easy. But there comes a moment when we must stop, close our eyes, and remember, just like Jeremiah did, the greatness of our God. When we remember who He is, the mountain loses its voice. When we remember what He has done, fear loses its grip. When we remember His power, the impossible loses its intimidation. Every mountain will be removed and thrown into the sea. Every plain will be made flat. Every crooked path will be straightened. Not by our strength, but by His outstretched arm.
Your situation may feel too tangled. Your heart may feel too tired. Your hope may feel too thin. But nothing is too hard for Him.
The God who made the heavens is still making ways. The God who formed the earth is still forming futures. And the God who stretched out His arm is still stretching it out toward you.
Prayer:
Lord God, In the moments when the mountain before me feels too high and fear tries to silence my faith, remind me of who You are. Help me pause, breathe, and remember Your greatness, how You have carried me before, how You have shown up in power, how You have never failed me. Silence every voice that magnifies the problem and lift my eyes to Your outstretched arm. Strengthen my heart to trust You when I cannot see the way forward. Remove every mountain that stands in the path You have called me to walk. Make the crooked places straight and the rough places smooth. Let Your power rise where my strength ends, and let my life testify that truly, nothing is too hard for You.
Amen.
