SCRIPTURE READING FOR THE week

John 20:29 NKJV

A reflection on John 20:29, for anyone whose faith feels fragile today.

Verse: “Jesus said to him, “Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” John 20:29 NKJV

Reflection: There’s an ache hidden in this verse, a tender ache that reaches into the private places of the heart where our deepest fears and longings live. Thomas touched what we ache to touch. He saw what our tired eyes long to see. We live in a world that demands proof, yet faith often asks us to walk without it. And yet, in that sacred moment, Jesus lifted His gaze beyond the room, beyond the wounds, beyond Thomas’s trembling hands… and He looked into the future. He looked at you.

He saw the days when your faith would feel thin. He saw the nights when your prayers would fall out of a breaking heart and tearful eyes. He saw the moments when you would reach for Him and feel nothing but silence. And still, He blessed you.

He named the faith that shakes.

He honored the trust that feels like it might collapse. He cherished the belief that survives on tears instead of certainty.

He embraced every soul who would cling to Him with empty hands, hoping He was there in the dark.

This verse is a love letter written in advance. It is Jesus whispering:

“I see the ones who will follow Me with no proof to hold. I see the ones who will choose Me without signs or wonders.

I see the ones who will love Me without ever touching My scars. And I call them blessed.”

Your faith, quiet, bruised, unseen by the world, is the very faith Jesus celebrated before you ever took your first breath. He knew belief would sometimes feel like walking through fog. He knew doubt would sit heavy on your chest. He knew your heart would break and still try to trust.

And yet He spoke blessing over you anyway. Not because your faith is always strong. Not because your confidence never wavers. Not because you never question.

But because, even with trembling hands and a weary soul, your heart still turns toward Him. And to Him… that is enough.

Prayer: Lord Jesus,Your words reach into the deepest places of my heart.

You saw me long before I ever knew Your name. You blessed me before I ever learned to believe. You called me Yours even though my faith trembles and my vision is dim.

Teach me to trust You in the unseen places.Hold me when doubt rises like a storm.

Whisper to me when my heart grows tired.

Remind me that You are near, even when I cannot feel You, even when I cannot trace Your hand, even when all I have left is a fragile yes. Thank You for honoring the faith that feels small. Thank You for blessing the believer who walks without sight. Thank You for seeing me, loving me, choosing me.

Let my tears become worship. Let my longing become devotion. Let my unseen faith bring joy to Your heart. I believe, Lord.

Help my unbelief. And keep me close until the day my eyes finally see the One my soul has loved all along.

Amen.
